We completed unit one and students had their first unit test this past Thursday. Students also should have submitted their final topic title and parent permission slip for their Science Symposium project. The informational packet with all of the deadlines and requirements for the project have been distributed and will also be posted in the classroom. Enjoy the holiday!
Dr. Marr, Mr. Hoffman- Social Studies- Team: 7-2 & 7-3This past week students completing Unit 1: Pieces of Me. Students had a major assessment of the last two weeks that was due on Friday 9/30. Interim reports will go home next week. If you see that your child owes work, please let them know they can make assignments up at extra help. Next week students will engage in their first simulation activity then begin to student Native American Groups.
Mrs. Behan, Mr. Kram, Mrs Vetter- English: Teams 7-1, 7-2, & 7-3
This week in English, we continued working in the Themes anthology textbook. Students completed a paired reading activity, analyzing two pieces of poetry and identifying the theme in each. We also read a short story, "The All-American Slurp." Students were able to identify tone in a piece of writing and consider how that impacts the reader's perception of the characters in the story. Students should be regularly reading their independent reading novels. The due date for the independent reading essay has been moved to Tuesday, October 18. Next week we will work on planning the written essay and preparing the rough draft. We will also be administering the RI, Reading Inventory, formerly the SRI.
