English:
This past week we read "Hum", a short story about a Palestinian American boy's encounters with discrimination. We also read "A Letter from a Concentration Camp, a short passage about the Japanese internment camps during World War Two. Both passages are inclusive of the themes of protecting our rights that we've encountered in Workshop 4.
After our beach clean up, we asked the students to write letters to local officials expressing their observations and concern for our environment. These will be proofread by my and returned to them next week for a quick re-write. Please have them complete these.
Next week we will review our rough drafts (due May 26th) and have our second Inquiry Test (open-book, as always) on May 27th. The Philadelphia trip is Thursday, and we will be tidying up our rough drafts on Friday.
Have a happy Memorial Day weekend!
