ENGLISH:
Next week we will be administering the EL:A. Students have been working on critical reading skills and writing development throughout the year. Please encourage your children to get a good night's sleep before the exam days, and to try and eat a small, but nutritious breakfast. Of course, this should happen every day! They need to bring a pencil as well. This week we have continued work with the novel, and this will last two more weeks. The end of the quarter is next Friday, April 4, 2014. Students need to hand in any overdue work by that date.
This week students reviewed sewing safety practices and learned how to hand stitch and operate a sewing machine.
MATHEMATICS:
All Classes - We will start reviewing for the NY State Assessment Test next week. Students will continue to work in the blue review book for homework. There will be a test next Friday to end the quarter.
SCIENCE:
This week we are finishing up the last of the body systems. Students will take a quiz on the Nervous System and that will be their last assessment for 3rd quarter. This coming week we start a new module that we adopted on Ecology. Students will begin making in class observations on habitats that we slowly build over the next week.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
This week the ELA will be administered on Tuesday., Wednesday and Thursday. On Monday we will be reviewing the quarterly exam taken on Friday, 3/28. The rest of the week will focus on student voice and civic leadership as we explore the core democratic concepts and how people around the world promote and defend them. This information will be used in a culminating project in English.
