English:
This past week we peer edited and conferenced over the rough draft of our research paper. Now students must revise, edit, and hand in their final product on June 8th. We also took our final Inquiry test for Workshop 4 of the Expert 21 book. Tests will be returned on Monday. Next week, students will take their final SRI to measure reading level score.
Mathematics:
A great time was had by all in Philadelphia. Mushroom Park is next Friday, June 5th. If you did not bring in your permission slip and money, please bring it in on Monday.
Science:
This week in science, students took a mid-summative assessment on food-webs. Organisms arrived for the terrariums and aquariums finally! Students will be able to observe many different organisms interacting in these mini-ecosystems. The 7th grade trip to Philadelphia was a wonderful experience had by all. The Franklin Institute had many exciting, interactive, hands-on science interactive exhibits. The Giant Heart in the Heart Exhibit and the new Brain Exhibit were some of the favorites. Next week, we will continue to study our mini-ecosystems and begin our last unit of study of Genetics. Looking ahead, the science final exam will take place on Friday, June 19th.
Social Studies:
This week we will be be completing our study of the American Civil War and begin to look at the rebuilding of the South. We will be discussing PTSD and the link to the Civil War.
