Please text @team1314 to 1-347-2465 to join the team 7-2 SMS list.

ART:

Be looking for the rubric with your student's  first two grades in art. They will get a separate grade for the front and back of their folders. We will be starting a new project, the  Native American Shield next week.

ENGLISH:

We took an Inquiry Test on the first three readings this past Thursday. Students will receive their scores this coming week. We will continue our exploration of goal-setting and decision-making in our Workshop One by reading "We Beat the Street". As a reminder, students should be reading their novels for the independent reading assignment, which is due October 16th. They will also be shown how to access Expert Space, the online component of Expert 21.

MATHEMATICS:

Accelerated Math:  We will continue to work on Chapter 3 next week.  All students will receive their test back on Friday October 4th.  Please review test with your child and sign the exam.  They can receive up to half of the points that they lost.  There will be a Spiral Review Quiz on Monday.  Have a nice weekend!

Math 7: We started Chapter 2 this week and will continue to work on it next week.  All students need to practice all operations with fractions and Integers.  They took their first exam this week.  I plan to give it back early next week.  There will be a Spiral Review quiz on Monday.  Have a nice weekend!

SCIENCE:

Next week in science, we will visit the library to begin preliminary research for science fair/symposium projects.  Students will be required to conduct a controlled experiment, where all factors are held constant except the variable being tested. Students will be given the choice to work alone, with a partner, or in a group of three.  Every student must get their project topic approved, in writing, by me before they begin any experimentation. Students will also be required to get parent approval prior to the experiment. Informational packet, rubric, and deadline benchmarks will be sent home soon.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

This week we will be looking at how our environment shapes and influences our culture. We will complete an Iroquois Longhouse simulation at the start of the week. Students will begin to receive homework assignments utilizing the online textbook found at http://www.learntci.com. Your child knows how to log onto the account, as we have now spent two days working with it.
