The independent reading assignment was due October 16th. Please encourage your
child to get it in if he/she didn't already do so. This coming week, we will
complete Workshop 1 and take our second Inquiry test on the last three readings
of the workshop. This will be on Tuesday the 22nd. At the end of the week we
will take an end-of workshop skills test. Some of the skills tested will be
vocabulary knowledge, finding evidence in text, identifying main ideas and
details, and author's purpose. We continue to research different topics using
Expert Space online. This past week, they were assigned a career information
search. Upcoming this next week, they will research Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
using the Expert Space information. Please go to www.expert21.com/student , log in and follow instructions.
Students were given login information. If there is difficulty accessing the
site, students can see me to verify their username/password information, or they
can do the assignment during an extra help (Wednesdays and Fridays). Finally,
although the independent reading assignment is completed, please encourage your
children to read every day. Research has shown that consistent readers make
consistently stronger learners!MATHEMATICS:
