This week in science students sharpened their measurement skills in a measurement laboratory investigation. Students will be using these vital science skills in their science fair experiment to quantify their results. The Measurement lab report will be due next Tuesday, October 11. Guidelines for the lab report are posted in the Google Classroom. Science fair research paper, hypothesis, and work cited page deadline has been extended to Thursday, October 13. Students were given time in school to work on this assignment. Whatever was not completed in class is expected to be done at home. On-going homework in science has been to work on research for science fair. The Science Symposium Packet was distributed weeks ago with the project timeline. These dates will be extended from time to time. The packet has been posted in the Google Classroom, just in case it has been misplaced.

This week, the classes took their first Reading Inventory (SRI) of the year. It is a diagnostic used to measure progress during the school year. Students were encouraged to share their results with you.. In addition, we started working on rough drafts of our literary essay. The rough draft is due on Thursday, October 13th, and the final copy is due on Monday, October 17th. Students have been provided with details and organizing information. Next week, a very short week for us, we will work on revising and editing our rough drafts to make an improved copy. Please make sure your children are keeping up with their work. There are many students who still have quite a bit to read in their novels (though many are finished). Falling behind with work adds to the workload. In addition, please remind your children that homework is posted online as well as in the classroom, and when a student is absent, he/she is responsible for making up the work.
