PTA Update Week 26

Please remind your children that they are responsible for writing their homework down in their agendas everyday. We cannot always rely on the online homework as internet and network problems may sometimes occur.  Please visit http://www.team72.co for team updates.

ENGLISH:
The ELA assessment is behind us, and I want to share that I am incredibly proud of the manner in which my students approached the exam. They are a special bunch of young people! This past week, we ended the third quarter. We're in the home stretch now! This upcoming week, we will culminate our unit "Fight for Your Rights - Life and Love in The Hunger Games". As a final piece, students will be creating their own version of a constitution for a better government of Panem. This is tied in with their social studies curriculum. We will be working collaboratively on these new constitutions and creating a banner for each district, similar to our state flags.

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES:

Students will use hand and machine sewing techniques to sew on special features and complete their cartoon pillow projects.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

This week we will be working on an art project inspired by artist Michael Albert. Known as Cerealism, students will be cutting out letters from cereal boxes or high gloss magazines to create a statement to answer the question, "What are you willing to fight for?" Please send in as many high gloss magazines or cereal boxes as possible. The project is due on Friday, and will be worked on in class. Thank you. The project can be found here.
