The 7th Grade will be taking
a field trip to the 9/11 Memorial on Thursday May 12, 2016. The trip will leave
school at 7:00am and return to school approximately 4:30pm. The cost of the
trip is $130.00 for a Coach Bus, admission, and a trip around NYC on Spirit
Cruises. Permission slips have been backpacked home. A deposit of $100.00 is due by 2/12/2016. The

ENGLISH: (BEHAN, FERRANTE, VETTER)
This week in English, students started reading Rumble Fish, by S.E. Hinton. Students explored how characters are impacted by the setting in a literary work. An online author study was completed on Friday in class to help students explore and better understand author's purpose and choices. FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES: (BERMAN)
This was an exciting week of cooking! We made Blueberry Muffins,
Biscuits, Thumbprint Cookies and Miniature Apple Pies. Next week is our last
week of the semester and we will be reviewing for our final exam and completing
our very last lab-Pizza!
HEALTH: (LEIBOWITZ, GLASSER)
This week in Health class we are discussing
puberty. The students will be able to identify the changes that take
place, both physically and emotionally, during this time of their lives.
We will be identifying what boundaries are and how important it is during this
time to exhibit social boundaries with our peers.
MATHEMATICS: (FERNANDEZ, REHNBACK, MCWILLIAMS)
The last unit exam of the quarter was administered today. We will continue with Chapter 6: Percents in Math 7. We will start Chapter 10: Probability and Statistics. All test corrections, Performance Tasks, and missed homework is due by next Friday the 29th.

SCIENCE: (CAMACHO, KALNER, TOBIA)
This week in science, students took a break from the Skeletal System unit to review for the Midterm Exam which is Friday, January 22 & Monday, January 25. Homework notebooks will be collected next Tuesday to be graded for the quarter. In addition, the Skeletal System Display Sheets will be due Thursday, January 29th. We will complete the Skeletal System unit following the Midterm Exam. The next unit of study will be the Digestive System.
SOCIAL STUDIES: (COOK, HOFFMAN, MARR)
Next week students will be introduced into a period of time known as the Critical Period. From the end of the American Revolution until 1789, the United States operated under the Article of Confederation. This week students will learn about why the Articles did not work, and how the Founders went about attempting to fix them. We will end the week introducing the Constitution. Mr. Cook: Next week we will be continuing our analysis of the U.S. Constitution. Focus on Articles 4-7 and the Bill of Rights. Project to follow- Each student will be researching either one of the Articles or Bill of Rights (7 Articles, 10 Bill of Rights). Presentations in Class).
