PTA Update- Nov 10

Mrs. Kalner, Mrs. Bryan, Mr. Tobia- Science - Teams: 7-2 & 7-3
Last week we began our Ecology unit and students took their first quiz on the understanding of introductory vocabulary.  This week student's Science Symposium Projects were due and oral presentations have begun.  The students have been really excited to share all of their hard work and we are excited for everyone to come and view the projects the night of the Symposium on November 17th beginning at 6pm.  All students are expected to attend where they can view their peer's projects, as well as show off their own and take home their projects.  Students should take care of their boards in the possibility of being rejudged for Science Congress.  Rejudging will take place on November 29th.   

Dr. Marr, Mr. Hoffman- Social Studies- Team: 7-2 & 7-3
 This week in Individuals and Societies we reviewed the Unit Assessment then began our examination of Unit 2: Early American Identity: Colonies, Wealth & Tradition. After talking about how all thirteen colonies can be divided into three regions (New England, Middle, Southern) we began to study the New England Region. Next week students will continue to explore the three regions and mindmap our learning to include images and video. There will be assessments of the American Identity in two weeks including geography and the "Thanksgiving song."

Mrs. Behan, Mr. Kram, Mrs Vetter- English: Teams 7-1, 7-2, & 7-3
  This week in English, students reviewed for and took their Family Matters Unit Test. We also discussed the events and conflict development in Freak the Mighty, chapters 13-16. Next week , we will continue working with the last third of Freak the Mighty. Activities will include continuing conflict development, connections between text and themes addressed in the book, and character analysis.

Mrs. Berman- Home & Careers- Team 7-1This week is our last week of the Sewing Unit. Students are finishing their pillow projects before we begin our Career Unit.
