This week, students worked on the rough draft for their research paper. They typed it, edited, revised and conferenced. The final product is due next week. As a reminder, all papers should be typed, 2-3 pages in length, with an additional title page and works cited page. Materials to assist the students in this process have been shared via Google Drive. Next week, students will have an X-skills test, an assessment that measures their ability to use the literary skills worked on in Workshop 4 as well as the vocabulary. We will also wrap up our Breaking Barriers unit.

Next week Mr. Hoffman and Dr. Marr's social studies classes will conclude the American Civil War and begin our final topic for the year: the Reconstruction of the South. We we be reviewing for the final exam towards the end of the week with materials put on our google classroom pages. Mr. Cook's classes will be doing research and presenting student final project titled "The Most Influential People of the (19th/20th) Century". Each student will be researching a different historical figure and will debate against the rest of the class in a bracket style tournament. Students will be responsible for creating a 1/2 pg biography on the figure, and a 1/2 pg summary proving his/her influence to the world. If global influence is proven in the biography, a distinction between the two parts will not be needed.
