PTA Update May 6

ENGLISH: (BEHAN, FERRANTE, VETTER)
This week students started the fourth and final workshop in the Expert 21 book, "Breaking Barriers". During the course of this unit we will explore how individuals have broken barriers and how we protect our rights as individuals and as a society. Students also received information about the fourth quarter research paper, also entitled Breaking Barriers. Students need to research an individual who has impacted society by breaking a barrier in some way. The project is due Tuesday, June 7th, and serves as a final project. The assignment has been shared with the students on Google Docs. We will walk students through the research process during the next few weeks, and while significant time in class will be spent on this, students are also expected to work at home. Next week, we will have an inquiry test on the first three selections of the workshop and continue work in the Expert 21 book, as well as research different databases. Next week's distribution of Chromebooks will greatly assist students in their research efforts.
