PTA Update February 5

The 7th Grade will be taking a field trip to the 9/11 Memorial on Thursday May 12, 2016. The trip will leave school at 7:00am and return to school approximately 4:30pm. The cost of the trip is $130.00 for a Coach Bus, admission, and a trip around NYC on Spirit Cruises. Permission slips have been backpacked home.  A deposit of $100.00 is due by 2/12/2016. ENGLISH: (BEHAN, FERRANTE, VETTER)
This week in English we finished reading Rumble Fish. Students have also been assigned a culminating project, which is a Rusty James Scrapbook. A handout explaining the requirements was distributed and discussed in detail. The assignment is due Wednesday, February 24th. Next week, students will have time to work on the assignment during class, though time at home is necessary as well. We will also wrap up analysis of the novel, including essential questions, and themes.  

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES: (Stern)
Welcome to Mrs. Stern's Home & Careers class for the 2nd Semester!  This week we will begin the sewing unit reviewing basic hand sewing stitches.  All students will be able to hand sew a button by the end of the week.

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES: (Berman)
Welcome to Home & Careers! We are starting off the semester with our Personal Development unit. This week, students will focus on responsibility and setting goals. They will also begin planning for our Digital Story project that we will be completing in the computer lab next week. For this project, students are asked to bring in photos to use in their Digital Story. Students can bring in hard copies of photos to scan, a flash drive with photos saved on it or they can upload photos to their Google Drive account.

HEALTH: (LEIBOWITZ, GLASSER) 
Welcome to Health class!  We are excited to start the 3rd semester with team 7-1. This week we introduced the "health triangle" discussing the importance of our physical, mental, and social well being. The students are creating their own health triangles and identifying goals for themselves that would help them to create a balanced triangle.

SCIENCE: (CAMACHO, KALNER, TOBIA)

This week in science, students continued their study of the Digestive System and Nutrients. A quiz was given on Friday, February 5. Next week, we will continue investigate the Digestive Organs and their functions. 

SOCIAL STUDIES: (COOK, HOFFMAN, MARR)

This week we will be concluding our study of the U.S. Constitution. After reviewing the six principles of government, we will focus on the basic structure of government and then work on an iMovie informational project. Mr. Cook: Next week we will be reviewing for, and taking our test on the Constitution.  Focus of the test will be how the U.S. Constitution effects our lives today.  Research projects/presentations this week will aid in review.
