English:

This week we culminated our 3rd Workshop, Nature's Fury. Students took their second Inquiry test on Tuesday, and we finished the week with a group activity that asked students to take what they learned about natural disasters and their effects and apply their learning. Upcoming: There will be an X-skills test on Wednesday, March 4th. A review sheet will be uploaded onto the team website at www.team72.co We have begun reviewing for the ELA; students will receive a light blue workbook with passages and exercises. This will be used both at home and in class. We will also begin work with our third whole-class novel, The Testing.

Home & Careers:

TBA

Science:

Welcome back from Winter Break! This week in science, we jumped right in with a review of  the Digestive System. A morning review was given on Tuesday before the Digestive System Exam for extra support. The  next human body system of study is the Respiratory System. Students read an introductory article, "With Every Breath", that gave a general overview of the parts and functions of the Respiratory System. In addition, this informational reading offered explanations of the various diseases and disorders of the system. It is exciting to see the interest spark in students at different times, during each of the human body units. They really seem to be engaged, and love making connections to their real life experiences.

Social Studies:

This week we will be exploring the rights that we have in the United States under the US Constitution. After completing a graphic organizer walkabout, we will discuss the importance and limits of our freedoms. We will end the week reading an excerpt about what may happen in the USA after a terrorist attack.
