English:
This past week we completed our Workshop One readings in Expert 21 and embarked on our next unit: a whole class reading of Freak the Mighty. We will work on this for approximately three and a half weeks. Students have been informed that they need to bring their novels back and forth between home and school every day. We will explore issues of self image, friendship and family. There is an Inquiry test next week on Tuesday, October 14th. This will again be open-book, and will cover "We Beat the Street", "What's Your Life's Blueprint?", and "Start Your Own Business".Health:
This week in health we are beginning the stress unit. We will identify what stress is and the difference between positive and negative stress.
Mathematics:
There will be a math unit exam on Friday. Regular students will have the test on Chapter 2. Accelerated students will have a test on Chapter 3.
Science:
Students will be in the library this week conducting background research for their science fair project. The research paper and work cited page will be due next Tuesday, October 21. The first unit exam will be next Thursday, October 23. The topics covered will be Biological Sciences, Life Functions, and Scientific Method.
