ENGLISH:
Over this past week, we took an Inquiry test for the first half of the workshop. Students should get the tests back on Monday. Students also had returned to them their scrapbooks. Attached to the scrapbook was a rubric with their scores - these needed to be signed and returned to me. We have also read "Raymond's Run", a story about a girls' passion for running. Work is being completed towards finalizing requirements for the Independent Reading Assignment (an essay based on the theme of the novel they are reading). Students have been completing bookmarks for characterization, conflict, and theme, as well as handouts to help them with formatting, revision, and editing. This essay id due on Tuesday, December 17th. By now, they should be finished, or nearing completion of the reading so they can spend a couple of days at home writing the essay. Over the course of next week, we will also finish the second half of Workshop Two and have our second Inquiry test on Friday. As a reminder, these are open-book assessments used for the purpose of finding and analyzing text. No memorization is necessary. Students have already read the material.

Now that we are immersed in the experimental phase, many
students have been faced with unforeseen obstacles. They are trouble shooting
and problem solving to overcome these “bumps” in the road. The road traveled is
often much more important than the destination
